"We will take the lead in making Jeju a better place“

Hyung Joon Yoon, CEO of KAFLIX, who runs 'Jeju Pass', which has grown into the largest rental car platform in Korea, loves Jeju more than anyone.

When asked what is the secret of the rapid growth of Jeju Pass in less than six years, CEO Yoon emphasized, "The secret is interest in the region, clear and accurate prices, and simplified service.“

CEO Yoon said, "In the past, rental cars had to be booked by phone, and consumers were often ripped off because they could not access the accurate price, and complaints from tourists visiting Jeju only piled up.“

"As a native of Jeju, I felt unhappy that my hometown received such distrust, and introduced the nation's first online reservation system," he said about the background of his start-up.

Jeju Pass, which started its service in 2016, has grown into the largest rental car platform in Jeju, with 420 car rental companies and 45,000 rental cars currently registered. It is no exaggeration to say that Jeju Pass is leading the domestic rental car market, except for large companies armed with enormous capital.

He said, "Based on the experience of establishing 12 corporations, we launched Jeju Pass, and with the slogan of 'the sincerity for traveling to Jeju', we provide an integrated reservation service such as rental car, flight, accommodation, and travel contents at once.“

"We combine AI and patent technology on a platform that compares prices to quality, insurance, options, and reviews so that customers can choose the best rental car.“

The reason why Jeju Pass has recently drawn attention again is that it has applied ESG management for the environment and society of travel areas for the first time in the domestic tourism industry.

If travelers participate in campaigns for "Make Jeju Better," such as "coast waste purification activities" and "making shopping baskets using waste plastic," to solve Jeju's environmental and community problems, Green Ambassador membership is provided to them. In addition, Jeju Pass users can earn up to 5% of their purchase amount, and 1% of this can be donated to Jeju by providing them as donation-only points. With this service, which started in March, donations of about 20 million KRW have been collected and used for Jeju Island.

Yoon said, "Jeju Pass is a business based on Jeju Island, which has a beautiful natural environment. Above all, the biggest challenge is to make a trip that cares about the region."

“Jeju island is struggling with environmental problems due to development and tourism, and Jeju Pass will work with tourists to come up with various ways to make Jeju better.”
