South Korea's medical technology is drawing attention in Southeast Asia, which is deeply interested in K-beauty.
LuluLab Co., Ltd., an AI beauty and health company, signed a business agreement with a general hospital affiliated with Hanoi Medical University in Vietnam last July and launched an AI skin medical platform such as 'Lumini Kiosk' and a 'Customer Relationship Management' (CRM) system for hospital management.
Lulu Lab's AI Skin Medical Platform is an integrated system that includes an "AI Skin Analysis Solution" that analyzes items needed for dermatological treatment regardless of race and country, a "CRM" optimized for medical staff, and an application that manages customers to check skin data on their own.
There is a high demand for whitening skin in Vietnam, so interest in Korean cosmetics and makeup technology is high.
LuluLab plans to commercially introduce the AI skin medical platform to more than 100 medical institutions within three years, based at a hospital affiliated with Hanoi Medical University.
Lulu Lab’s achievements were not created in a day.
Since its founding in 2017, it has collected skin data of multi-ethnic people from over 20 countries to target the global market.
It focused on upgrading the AI engine that analyzes skin data and prepared a CRM solution to manage data.
Important keys in AI skin analysis are the absolute number of data, data diversity, and data labeling consistency.
Lulu Lab has collected over 2 million pieces of data over the past 6 years since its founding.
In addition, consistency is also secured as it was published as a paper last year and was selected as the best paper.
As part of these efforts, a business agreement was signed this year to operate the ‘AI Beauty Research Center’ at Yonsei University Severance Hospital.
The Ministry of Science and ICT also selected it as the 2023 Global ICT Future Unicorn Promotion Project and the 2023 Tourism Global Challenge Y&Bridge organized by global accelerator Y&Archer.
Lulu Lab aims to expand its services as an AI-based image analysis company, not just an AI beauty analysis solution.
Yongjun Choi, CEO of Lulu Lab, said, “As part of our efforts to expand our business into the medical field, we are currently developing digital medical device (DTx) technology for orthostatic or postprandial-induced hypotension.”
“For this project targeting low blood pressure, a chronic disease mainly suffered by women, who are LuluLab’s main customer base, the goal is to obtain digital medical device certification in 2024.”
