Since 2020, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization have been running the 'Tourism Global Challenge (hosted by Y&Archer)' project aimed at nurturing travel tech startups.
Over the past four years, approximately 90 startups have been cultivated through this project, which involves IR consulting to enhance investment capabilities and showcases that invite overseas organizations.
Last July, they held the ‘Tourism Global Challenge Alumni Day’ for the companies selected this year, and sought various development plans such as one-on-one meetups and talk concerts.
Notably, Chang Hyun Lee, CEO of Globaleur, appeared at the talk concert and spent meaningful time sharing cases of overseas expansion.
We had the opportunity to interview CEO Chang Hyun Lee, who has achieved overseas expansion, and listened to Globaleur's competitiveness.
"One of Globaleur's key strengths is its exceptional team,"
CEO Lee said, "Grace Wang, co-founder and CPO, graduated from UC Berkeley Graduate School of Engineering and gained expertise by working as a technical product manager at Prudential Financial.“
"I have also lived in the United States for over 20 years, been in charge of management consulting, and have gained experience in various fields such as TMT and FAS,“
He added, “Additionally, our development team consists of professionals from major global tech companies such as Apple and Google. We are creating services with multinational and multicultural personnel who have experience working in various countries such as the United States, France, Spain, China, and Japan.”
Globaleur is a travel tech company that provides automatic travel itinerary creation and optimization solutions in B2B format based on AI technology.
We offer end-to-end travel solutions, including everything from airline tickets to hotels, tours, and transportation reservations, in the form of SaaS (Software as a Service).
It started in the United States in 2017 and is headquartered in San Francisco Bay, California. After establishing a Korean corporation in 2020, it is advancing into various overseas markets through branches in Singapore, Dubai, and Thailand.
CEO Lee said, “Using the artificial neural network (ANN) structure engine developed with our technology, we analyze the user’s purpose and preferences and create a personalized travel itinerary based on this.”
“In particular, we recommend optimized itineraries based on GDS (Google Data Studio) flight ticket, hotel, tour, and activity inventory,”
Globaleur also provides a variety of travel content about travel destinations around the world.
All information is produced in-house by Globaleur, and POI information for more than 200 cities is utilized.
Recognized for its technological prowess, Globaleur was selected as a ‘global aviation industry digital transformation partner’ by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for the first time in Korea.
Last year, they also received the Seoul Tourism Awards.
Lee emphasized, "We are committed to digitizing every 'end-to-end traveler touchpoint,' from travel reservations to in-flight entertainment systems, hotel check-ins, and essential local mobility. This commitment spans from the pre-booking phase of the journey to in-flight entertainment systems, hotel check-ins, and essential local mobility."
